In Loving Memory

It is with the deepest sorrow that we announce the passing of our founding director, Margaret Perry, on Thursday, April 5th, 2018. Margaret stepped down as director in October of 2017 after learning of her diagnosis and dealt with her treatment and final stages with grace, honesty, humor and a depth of courage that was miraculous to witness. Her imprint will be forever on the Armstrong Community Music School, the staff that followed her vision wholeheartedly and the faculty that shared her mission of service and excellence. Her wisdom guided many. Her laughter uplifted all. She will be deeply missed.

A memorial concert is being planned in her honor, hosted by ACMS staff and joined together with many of the Austin arts organizations with whom she served and collaborated. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Armstrong Community Music School or the Margaret Perry Endowment Fund at the Austin Community Foundation.

Help ACMS Grow the Grove

We would love for you, your family, or tribute, to be permanently honored in our school by dedicating an engraved leaf or apple in our beautiful grove of trees. Please help us reach our $20,000 goal to fill all three trees by our 20th Anniversary in 2020. 100% of the proceeds benefit our Community Partnership Programs, where music is a tool for healing, rehabilitation, and skill building.
