Armstrong and SafePlace

Early Childhood music education for mothers and their children is
at the heart of what we bring to SafePlace, central Texas’ foremost domestic abuse shelter.

Our focus is on the therapeutic nature of music as a healing force. These interactive classes feature music appreciation, playful movement activities, and instrumental jam sessions for children. Documented results include cognitive development, interest in learning, and improved quality of life and self-expression.

After fifteen years of bringing music to the youngest children at SafePlace, we are pleased to announce that we are expanding our programming into the UT Charter School at SafePlace. Starting this month, Armstrong Community Music School will be bringing weekly music classes and enrichment to children at the shelter in Kindergarten through 5th grade, with plans to expand into the secondary school in the future. This program will be the first music offering at the charter school since its opening.

With your generous support, we look forward to bringing the healing power of music into the lives of these children for many years to come.
