Heal a Heart: Armstrong Community Music School & The SAFE Alliance

Early Childhood Music education for mothers and their children is at the ♥ of what we bring to The SAFE Alliance, whose vision is a just and safe community free from violence and abuse.

One of our earliest community partnerships, now in its seventeenth year, has been with SafePlace. The exciting news is that Austin Children’s Shelter and SafePlace have merged to become The SAFE Alliance or SAFE | stop abuse for everyone. We continue our focus on the therapeutic nature of music as a healing force.

  • Armstrong Community Music School provides weekly music classes at their Child Development Center, which serves children who are infants through five years old.
  • In the Spring of 2016, ACMS was given the opportunity to expand into the University of Texas University Charter School at George M. Kozmetsky at SafePlace, and we are now serving kindergarten through 8th grade with weekly music classes and guest musicians.
  • At the request of SafePlace staff, in the Fall of 2016 ACMS began providing an additional weekly music class in its therapeutic classroom, which houses children who have experienced especially difficult trauma.

With your generous support, we remain committed to bringing the healing power of music into the lives of these children for many years to come.

Giving is easy! Make your donation in person at ACMS, or call (512) 474-2331, or donate online. $20 per heart or 3 for $50
