Music Together and Canta y Baila Conmigo classes will resume the week of April 6 in a new online format being piloted in partnership with Music Together. Enrolled families will receive access to a private Facebook group, where we will be delivering virtual class experiences as well as supplemental activities and resources to use at home. Due to the shelter-in-place, we will be mailing Canta y Baila materials to families and emailing Hello Everybody access codes to Music Together families. (We'll hold on to the physical materials for when the shelter-in-place ends.) We hope to move back to an in-person format in May and will base our decisions on the latest guidance from the government.
If you decide you prefer to drop the Spring session, please consider converting part or all of your tuition to a tax-deductible donation. This will help us as a nonprofit continue supporting our community, the hardworking musicians on our staff and faculty, and ensure we can continue to serve Austin after this pandemic is over.

Join us for an exciting class where music learning goes hand in hand with Spanish immersion.
Take a journey into Spanish language and its cultures through the magical world of music. With Canta y Baila Conmigo™ you and your child will be transported as you sing, dance and play along to the irresistible sounds and rhythms of Spanish speaking countries.
Canta y Baila Conmigo™ is a unique curriculum with dual, complimentary goals of music education and language immersion. Designed for beginners and native speakers alike, Canta y Baila Conmigo™ creates a playful, interactive atmosphere where language learning is integrated naturally and organically in the musical experience. While children are effortlessly absorbing and using the Spanish language, they engage—along with their grown-ups—in age-appropriate explorations of melody, rhythm, movement and instrument play that help nurture a strong foundation in music literacy.
New Canta y Baila Online Format
In order to accomodate concerns regarding COVID-19, we are switching to an online format via Facebook. As suggested by Music Together®, classes will be posted as 15-minute segments to accommodate children’s shorter attention spans. Segments will will remain online for a week. These segments will be posted at regular times and will feature a mix of Facebook Live and prerecorded video.
In order to view this content, you will need to be already registered in one of our Canta y Baila classes or enroll in the new Canta y Baila Online class. After that, you’ll receive an email with an invitation to a special Facebook group. Once you accept that invite, you’ll be able to peruse the sing-along videos and be able to participate in Facebook Live streams. Additional activities will be included in the groups files.
Registering for Canta y Baila will also allow you to view Music Together segments.
Please remember that while our sing-along videos are OK for kids to re-watch by themselves, their purpose is to create a shared experience between them and an adult in the home. The real-life involvement and guidance of YOU, the grown-up (or perhaps even a teenage sibling), is what will make the experience truly meaningful for your child. For those of you concerned about too much screen time for your child, rest assured that NOT ALL SCREEN TIME IS THE SAME. While passive consumption of media has been shown to be detrimental to young minds, what we are creating here is different. We CAN make video work for us in positive ways when it facilitates human connection and creative interaction.
