Ages: 10th - 12th grade
Class length: 60 minutes
Ever wanted to make music with someone—on the same piano? In this fun and collaborative class, students will explore the world of piano four hands, where two pianists play together on one instrument. You’ll learn how to listen closely, stay in sync with your partner, and bring music to life in a partnership.
This course is all about teamwork, communication, and making music together. The last class will culminate in a casual friends and family recital during class time.
What You’ll Learn:
- How to play in time with someone else (and not panic if either of you mess up!)
- How to listen in the moment and react as a partnership
- How to listen to the other performers in class and provide them with positive and constructive feedback
- Gain confidence performing as part of a team
Whether you're looking to grow as a pianist, meet other musicians, or just try something new, this course offers a supportive and fun environment to do it.
***Students should prepare a solo piece demonstrating their basic abilities to be played at the first class so the coach can appropriately match players. To be successful in this class, students should be able to read music well and have a good understanding of rhythm. Students will be responsible for learning their individual parts on their own.
